Yo everyone! Meet Jake O’Donnell AKA @Flo_Runna_ on instagram.
Jake has the special honor of being our first feature on the Off Road USA blog for a lot of reasons. And the main being that he is an absolute badass in the community.
There’s a lot of people out there with wild builds (he’s one of them) but it's rare we get to meet the ones who use their hobby to make a difference in the way Jake does. After countless Insta DMs we wanted to take a deeper dive into Jake and get to know him. It’s safe to say that we didn’t anticipate what we learned.
Before Covid hit Jake didn’t even own a 4Runner. A sophomore QB at James Madison University in Virginia he ate, slept, and breathed football. Covid forced him to hang up the cleats and a shitty Chevy Cobalt invited him to pick up a new ride. After 4 months of owning his rig Jake made his first mod purchase.
Then his second.
Then his third.
And the story goes on.
He went from looking for a new hobby… to falling into the hole of adding mods. (A truly classic love story).
After meeting others and getting involved in the Florida overlanding community, Jake played a huge role in hosting local meetups. Meetups that started as fun, but as they progressed, Jake found a way to turn something he already enjoyed into charity events for the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association and No Florida Veteran Left Behind.
“Since a lot of our community is full of veterans and active duty military, I decided what better way than to keep the money in the family. After researching what charities were in need of the most support, we landed on the Florida Veterans Foundation and the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association. Tyler from Morrflate brought to our attention how often the trail organizations are overlooked and neglected, so we decided to split the money evenly amongst the two foundations.” - Jake
Even though Jake has only owned a Toyota for just over a year, he has hosted 2 events, and anticipates holding his 3rd this June. He says that even though giving up football was a pretty tough choice, the community that he’s had the pleasure to be a part of has made that transition effortless.
“Over the last year, I’ve met some pretty epic people. I’ve never had a negative encounter….everyone has been extremely positive and supportive of each other, and this is what I love the most about our community. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be hosting these events, planning group trail rides, running my trucks IG, and taking rad pics. It’s because of the overwhelming support from the community that inspires me to do what I do. If you ever want to talk builds, trail stories, or anything else feel free to shoot me a direct message on Instagram!”
This Summer, June 6th, Jake will be hosting another Toyota charity event, A Yota Summer Splash, with TRD Jon, The Lunartik, Wide Open Overland, and MGM Yota at the Gandy Bridge Beach Area. At this beach meet, there will be thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes, dope rigs, and some even cooler people! We will be raising money for the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association and No Florida Veteran Left Behind. 100% of the proceeds will be split evenly amongst the two charities and we need you guys to make it all possible! This free event is an opportunity for all Toyota off road vehicle owners to meet and check out the latest modifications, accessories and gear.
HIS 4RUNNER
Jakes build is simple… but effective.
1 primary color. (His wrap - 3M’s Satin Dark Grey)
2 secondary colors. (black and red)
The last thing he wanted was to look like a street cruising Jeep. So he consulted some guys at Prismatic Powders and decided to add some simple red touches here and there.
He color matched the red on my coil springs, rock sliders, front bumper, grille, and skid plate. All of the red powder coats have been minor touches, aside from the red and black rock sliders. He’s currently rocking bronze wheels from before the red accents, but will be swapping those out for some black wheels in the near future.

For suspension, he’s running Dobinsons 3” long travel twin tube kit with Camburg Racing UCA’s. He has Dobinsons MRA suspension going in next week to make the truck handle better off road at higher speeds.
He has a full build list that I include in each post on my Instagram, @Flo_Runna_.
Be sure to reach out to us if you would like to share a story like Jakes with our growing 4Runner Off Road USA community!
