If you own a Jeep Wrangler JL Sport or Sport S, your front fender turn signal/DRL housings use factory amber incandescent bulbs - and there's no factory LED upgrade available for this trim the way there is on the Sahara and Rubicon. The result is a dim, warm-yellow signal light that looks out of place on an otherwise capable, modern Wrangler.
The ORACLE 7443CK switchback delivers what the factory never offered on the Sport trim - white running light output during normal operation, switching instantly to bright amber when the turn signal activates - all in a plug-and-play bulb that communicates natively with your JL's CAN Bus system. Will these fit my JL Sahara or Rubicon?
No. The Sahara and Rubicon use a different front turn signal configuration. The correct product for those trims is ORACLE Part #5103-003. Always confirm your trim level before purchasing.
What is a 7443"CK" connection and how do I verify I have one?
The 7443-CK has ground terminals on the same side of the connector (vs. opposite sides on a standard 7443). Pull your factory bulb - if it has "SRCK" stamped on the base, you have a CK socket and this is the correct product. Jeep Wrangler JL Sport front turn signals are CK type.
What happens if I install a standard 7443 LED in a CK socket?
Only one brightness level will illuminate regardless of turn signal state, and the bulb may cause a short circuit. Always verify your socket type before ordering.
Do I need load resistors or a CAN Bus decoder?
For most JL Sport owners, no - these bulbs communicate natively with the CAN Bus system. A small number of owners on certain model years experience intermittent warnings after extended turn signal use. Adding a 50W 6-ohm resistor per side, or using a Tazer/JScan to set front turns to LED mode, fully resolves it.
How does the switchback function work?
During normal operation the bulb illuminates white (DRL/parking). When the turn signal activates, it instantly switches to bright amber, then returns to white when cancelled. The 3-chip LED setup delivers even, uniform output in both colors.
Colors are reversed after install - white on turn, amber on park. How do I fix it?
Simply remove the bulb, rotate it 180°, and reinsert. This takes about 30 seconds and requires no tools. The two color channels are polarity-dependent - rotating reverses which circuit connects to which color.
How bright is the white DRL output vs. factory or Sahara/Rubicon LED DRL?
The white DRL output is noticeably cleaner and more modern than the factory amber incandescent. However, it is not as bright as the factory LED DRL package on the Sahara/Rubicon. The amber turn signal output is very bright. For the Sport trim where no factory LED DRL option exists, this is a meaningful and visually appealing upgrade.
